1982年生まれ。2006年よりチェコの美術大学UMPRUMのTV & Film Graphic学科にてドローイングアニメーション、パペットアニメーションを学んだのち、東京藝術大学大学院映像研究科アニメーションコース修了。実写・アートワーク・アニメーションの領域を自在に跨ぎ、映像ディレクション、アートディレクションから、アニメーションディレクション、キャラクターデザイン、イラストレーションまで総合的に手掛ける。誰しもが持ち合わせるような心くすぶるノスタルジックなモチーフ感やスケール感を根底に、現代的かつ高感度なアイデアやギミックを併せ持ち、制作物とその鑑賞者との距離を至極好意的に縮めることを可能にする。そのスタイルは、単なる「アナログ表現」や「クラフト感」と評されるに止まらず、それを超えた圧倒的な存在感を放つ。
Annecy（フランス）、Golden Kuker-Sofia（ブルガリア）、ANIFILMなどを始めとした国際映画祭での受賞/招待上映や、ACC、AD FESTなど広告祭での受賞多数。2017年、CJ E&M Corp.（韓国）が主催するアジア最大級の音楽アワード「Mnet Asian Music Awards」Professional Categoriesにおいて、Best Video Director of the yearを受賞。2018年には第61回 ニューヨークフェスティバルにて、金賞 (World Gold Medal) を受賞。
Movie Director, Art Director
Atsushi Makino was born in 1982, and majored in TV & Film Graphics at the Academy of Arts Architecture & Design in Prague, where he learned drawing animation and puppet animation. He proceeded to the Tokyo University of the Arts where he completed the program at the Graduate School of Film and New Media. He works across multiple genres such as live action, art work, and animation, and works on film direction, art direction, animation direction, character design, and illustration. He uses nostalgic motifs familiar to many, combining them with modern yet sensitive ideas that allow him to bring his work and the audience closer together. His style has an overwhelming presence that cannot be classified as simply “analog expression” or “crafted style”. He has been awarded and screened at various international film festivals including Annecy, Golden Kuker-Sofia, ANIFILM, and also advertisement festivals such as ACC and AD FEST. In 2017, he earned Best Video Director of the year in the Professional Categories at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, the largest music award in Asia hosted by CJ E&M Corp.
